Our elves have been hard at work in the WOR studios putting together another great week of programming for you as we head into Christmas week 2009! We’ve got an inside look at an insomniac’s favorite companion, an inside look at Santa’s track this Christmas Eve, and of course the 31st Annual WOR Family Christmas Special! Here are some of the highlights of the holiday week ahead:

MONDAY:

We’ve all seen the late-night infomercials on TV trying to sell us the latest and greatest new gadget that will forever change our lives for the better. But just how do the products we see in all of those segments get chosen for production? Telemarketing king A.J. Khubani, CEO of Fairfield, NJ-based Telebrands, slices and dices just how the selection process works when he talks with John Gambling this morning! Tune in, and you’ll get not one but TWO interviews for this low, low introductory price!! Er, sorry…got a little carried away there…ahem…

Hard to imagine, but not only are we just about through another year, we’re almost through the first decade of this century! (And unless I missed something, we’ve now gone through the entire decade without ever naming it!) Joan Hamburg takes a look back at some of the people and things that have changed how we live…and perhaps nothing had a greater impact on us all than Google. Veteran journalist Ken Auletta, author of “Googled: The End of the World As We Know It,” chats with Joan about how this search engine revolutionized how we surf the Internet.

Did Federal Reserve Board Chairman Ben Bernanke REALLY deserve to be named Time magazine’s “Man of the Year?” Steve Forbes weighs in with Steve Malzberg this afternoon! Plus, financial expert Dan Nigito talks with Steve about how even though the estate tax may go away for 2010, it may come back bigger than ever after that.

WEDNESDAY:

You’re preparing the big holiday feast…make sure you get everything just right! It’s time to get your last-minute questions answered as Joan Hamburg talks with chef Michael Lomonaco during her weekly food hour!

THURSDAY:

Don’t miss a special Christmas Eve edition of the Joan Hamburg show! Joan checks in with the official Santa tracking team at NORAD to see if he is expected to get to the tri-state area on time; Time Out New York shares some tips for the last-minute shopper; Marion Scotto of Fresco restaurant talks about the tradition of the Italian Christmas Eve seven fish meal; Marian Burros of the New York Times shares some great mail-order food secrets, and Broadway newcomer Quentin Earl Darrington, currently starring in “Ragtime,” talks with Joan about how theater performers who are away from home spend the holidays. Plus two other members of the Hamburg family stop by — Liz Hamburg shares a special edition of “New York Uncovered” with great suggestions on what to do in the city during the upcoming holiday week, and it’s the annual Hamburg holiday concert with the one and only Skip Hamburg!

Let WOR be the soundtrack of your Christmas as we present the 31st Annual Family Christmas Special, featuring the best mix of Christmas music, holiday memories from the WOR personalities and behind-the-scenes staff, and classic moments from some of your favorite holiday movies and television shows! Plus, our own Joey Reynolds anchors live coverage of midnight mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral! It all starts at 6pm on Christmas Eve, and runs commercial-free for a full twenty-four hours through 6pm Christmas Day!

Happy Holidays, everyone!!!
