Program Highlights for the Week of February 8, 2010

Next week on WOR, we’ll Monday-morning quarterback the Super Bowl…and the Super Bowl commercials.  John Gambling actually found a conservative in Hollywood, and you’ll hear from him.  Plus, the story of one man, his five wives, and his forty-six children — a new Hollywood blockbuster?  Guess again.  And Joan Hamburg goes for the culinary gold in Vancouver!  All that and more coming up next week on WOR!  Here’s a sneak peak!

MONDAY

  • Get all the Super Bowl highlights this morning on the John Gambling show!  Len Berman takes a look back at all the action on the field, and Lara Spencer from The Insider tells John which of this year’s Super Bowl ads were touchdowns…and which were fumbles.

TUESDAY

  • John Gambling talks with Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer about the State of the Borough.  Plus, our own Lou Dobbs, “Mr. Independent,” weighs in with John on the day’s top stories, and yes, there IS a conservative in Hollywood…one of ‘em, anyway…and we’ve found him!  Author and screenwriter Andrew Klavan talks with John!
  • And speaking of authors, one of the world’s top-selling novelists, Jackie Collins, sits down with Joan Hamburg today to discuss her new novel…featuring three twenty-something women, one handsome rich guy, two mega movie stars, and a devastating murder…certainly a recipe for another page-turner!

WEDNESDAY

  • One man…five wives…forty-six children.  John Gambling gets an inside look at polygamy in America when Scott Anderson talks with him this morning about his cover story in the current issue of National Geographic magazine.
  • One day a teenager saw a homeless man in her neighborhood at the precise second a sleek Mercedes coup went by on the road.  She thought that if only the driver had a less-expensive car, the homeless man could have a meal.  It was a life-changing moment for her and her family.  Kevin Salwens and his daughter Hannah talk with Joan Hamburg today about how they’re working to change the world…and themselves.  Plus, in anticipation of the Winter Olympics starting this weekend, Joan checks out the food scene in Vancouver!

FRIDAY

  • The Olympics start tonight in Vancouver, British Columbia.  Get a preview this morning when John Gambling talks with Len Berman!  Plus, Mayor Michael Bloomberg talks with John about how his traffic-flow experiment in midtown is working out…and he’ll let us know what he found out about benefits for retired MTA workers!
