Program Highlights for the Week of November 23

WOR’s serving up a big helping of great talk next week as we head into Thanksgiving, so make sure you’ve got an extra place set at your table for us!  Here are some of the coming week’s highlights…

MONDAY:

  • What hidden costs lurk in the government’s health care reform proposal?  Find out when CATO Institute Scholar Mike Tanner talks with John Gambling! 
  • Congress has agreed to new Federal Reserve oversight rules proposed by Congressman Ron Paul…but what do they mean for us as consumers?  John Gambling gets the scoop directly from Congressman Ron Paul himself!
  • Len Berman takes his weekly Monday look-back at the weekend’s top sports highlights this morning with John Gambling!
  • Get some lunchtime laughs as Joan Hamburg chats with comedian Robert Klein!

TUESDAY:

  • With all the recent government crackdowns on their business practices, what does the future hold for credit card companies?  Find out as John Gambling takes a sneak peak at tonight’s PBS Frontline special report, “The Card Game.”
  • How do you weigh the benefits of an education at one of the world’s most-famous universities versus the life you could have with a new love?  Carey Mulligan, star of “An Education,” one of the biggest hits at the box office, talks with Joan Hamburg about the film!

WEDNESDAY:

  • Thanksgiving is TOMORROW!  Avoid any last-minute kitchen emergencies by arming yourself with great information as Joan Hamburg talks with some of America’s favorite foodies!  Plus, Joan gets a preview of this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade from the man responsible for putting it all together!
  • Has capitalism failed?  Steve Malzberg talks with Forbes Chairman Steve Forbes about how preserving capitalism will save us from our current economic mess.

THURSDAY:

Happy Thanksgiving!

  • What are the biggest turkeys the government is serving up this Thanksgiving?  Get the take of Allan Lichtman, Professor and Chair of the Department of History at American University in Washington, D.C, as he talks with Dom Giordano, who sits in for John Gambling.
  • Joan Hamburg shares the holiday with Mitch Albom and his story of a faith journey that led him to places he never thought he would go.  Plus, Steve Roberts talks with Joan about several amazing stories of modern-day American immigrants, and Cokie Roberts chats with Joan about the women who shaped our nation—all perfect for a day to be thankful!

FRIDAY

  • Len Berman talks with Dom Giordano (sitting in for John Gambling), and looks back at all the Thanksgiving Day football action, plus Len takes a look ahead at what’s coming up in sports for the rest of the holiday weekend!
