As we kick off a Star-Spangled weekend to celebrate our country’s birthday, we’re already looking ahead to some great talk on WOR next week, including some delicious eats, A-list actors, and two of TV’s top talkers! And if you’re looking for a break from the talk, we’ve got you covered there too with the return of country music to New York radio! Take a look at what’s on tap:
MONDAY:
- Enjoy the holiday with The John Gambling Show! Joe Bartlett sits in for John this week and today talks with Dr. Philip Johnson, Associate Professor in the Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering at the University of Alabama, about the long term effects of the oil spill on the Gulf region and our economy. Plus, are we ready for the legalization of pot in New York and New Jersey? Gabriel Sayegh, Director of the New York office the Drug Policy Alliance, talks with Joe about medical marijuana. And Len Berman takes a look back at the weekend’s sports action!
- What are the all-time best dishes America has to offer, the ones you must taste before they vanish, so delicious they deserve to be a Holy Grail for travelers? Where’s the most vibrant Key lime pie in Florida? The most sensational chilies rellenos in New Mexico? The most succulent fried clams on the Eastern Seaboard? The most memorable whoopie pies, gumbos, tacos, cheese steaks, crab feasts? Jane and Michael Stern, America’s leading authorities on the culinary delights to be found while driving, take Joan Hamburg on one delicious holiday road trip! Plus Denzel Washington talks with Joan about his role in Broadway’s Fences, and Stanley Tucci chats about his work in Lend Me A Tenor.
TUESDAY:
- One of the most recognized figures in the world of entertainment, best known for her performances in The Sound of Music, Mary Poppins, and more recently, The Princess Diaries, Julie Andrews stops by to talk with Joan Hamburg about her new children’s book, The Very Fairy Princess.
WEDNESDAY:
- Wednesday is Food Hour day on the Joan Hamburg Show, and today Joan and her crew feature an old favorite in “Taste and Tell” — Grilled Cheese Sandwiches!
THURSDAY:
- Governor David Paterson discusses the top news affecting the Empire State with Joe Bartlett on The John Gambling Show! Plus, Joe talks with Spencer Abraham, Energy Secretary under George W. Bush, about how we can solve America’s energy crisis.
- One of our top talk hosts, Joan Hamburg, welcomes two of television’s top talk hosts, Wendy Williams and Meredith Viera! Wendy talks about why she never takes the summer off from her talk show, and Meredith, co-host of the Today show, chats about the day’s top stories!
FRIDAY:
- Liz Hamburg joins mom Joan for “New York Uncovered!” Don’t miss this weekly segment, in which Liz “uncovers” everything from the latest places to meet people, to “only in New York” experiences, and some old hidden treasures!
And here’s a highlight for all weekend…and all week…long: the Elephant is on the air! That’s right…Country music is back on New York radio, exclusively at worcountry.com!
